Kevin Loney : Oracle Database 10g “The Complete Reference (Osborne ORACLE Press Series)”

Ebook Free Download |Kevin Loney : Oracle Database 10g “The Complete Reference (Osborne ORACLE Press Series)”| It didn’t seem possible that Mr. Loney could surpass the excellence of his previous books, but I have found “10g: The Complete Reference” to be the most comprehensive and well-written Oracle book on the market today. Most of 10g’s new features are complex and can be misapplied if not understood thoroughly. Mr. Loney provides DBAs and developers with clean, concise writing and relevant examples that allow developers and DBAs to exploit the new features of Oracle 10g quickly and appropriately. The beginning sections on Oracle fundamentals should be required reading for all Oracle professionals. His wealth of experience is evident throughout the book. Indispensable for anyone serious about developing or managing Oracle databases.

User Mode Linux by Jeff Dike

Ebook Free Download |User Mode Linux by Jeff Dike| The book does a good job of describing UML configuration options and facilities. But where it really shines is in the ancillary material, covering the whys and hows of other subsystems that work in conjunction with UML.

For example, I found the treatment of network trouble-shooting that is interspersed with the UML networking section to be very well-done and useful beyond UML alone. Another high point is the information about kernel memory management (in conjunction with the discussion of tt, skas0 and skas3). But by far, the most enjoyable and impressive section of the book is the last two chapters in which the author challenges the reader to think about the wider implications of OS virtualization – for example why you might want to embed an instance of Linux inside another application that is in turn running on Linux (or even inside another UML)

Unix for Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger: Visual QuickPro Guide (2nd Edition) by Matisse Enzer

Ebook Free Download |Unix for Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger: Visual QuickPro Guide (2nd Edition)| I have a working understanding of UNIX and am a Mac user. In my experience, this book is ideally targeted for someone like me that wants to improve UNIX skills and prefers to do so on a Mac. Other texts I’ve consulted seem to jump too fast between really elementary subjects to needs of a system admin. The depth here is still rich, but the reader has time to digest the information before getting to more complex constructs.

Statistical Analysis with R

Ebook free download | Statistical Analysis with R | I highly enjoy the way the author introduces R to users – by having the users analyze a set of data with the role of saving a kingdom during the ancient China era. All the functions introduced in this book are the basic functions anyone needs to start exploring their data in R. I find myself using these functions all the time even though I am now more experienced in R. The user do not have to learn functions that they will never use when it comes to analyzing their own dataset.

Overall, the book covers the fundamentals required to understand how R works and provide the basic functions for users to start using R on their own. The author assumes that the user has no prior background on any programming language or even statistics. Hence, this book is suitable for anyone who is thinking of using R but has no idea where to start.

Product Description:

Vast tonnages of solid-liquid mixtures are pumped every year in dredging operations, mining and waste-disposal applications. Most of these systems are centrifugal pumps, and the resolution of problems encountered in slurry pumping requires both detailed scientific knowledge and judgment derived from practical experience.

For many years the combination of up-to-date analysis and hands-on experimentation has been provided to interested engineers in a short course based at the GIW Hydraulic Laboratory. The lecturers in this course, who represent a broad background of international expertise, have prepared this widely-recognized text, Slurry Transport Using Centrifugal Pumps, Third Edition.

This unique text is logically divided into two sections: the first part of the book concentrates on the behaviors of various sorts of slurry flow, and the second part deals with the behavior of centrifugal pumps handling slurries, and with how pumps and pipelines interact as a system.

Slurry Transport Using Centrifugal Pumps, Third Edition also includes:

New material on both non-Newtonian flows and slurries of granular particles.

New information on pump wear, solids effect, and system operation.

Updated and completely new material on pump selection and environmental aspects

The Machine That Changed the World : Based on the Massachusetts Institute of Technology 5-Million-Dollar 5-Year Study on the Future of the Automobile

  • Publisher: Scribner
  • Number Of Pages: 336

  • ISBN-10 / ASIN: 0892563508
  • ISBN-13 / EAN: 9780892563500

Product Description:

Today, the industrial world is experiencing the most revolutionary change since Henry Ford's assembly line -- which forever changed the way things are made. Japanese companies are sweeping the world, as Western companies and governments struggle to find ways to emulate them.
The Machine That Changed the World points for the first time to a positive way out of this dilemma. It shows that being defeatist about the Japanese threat, and tougher protectionism, are not the answers.
This book outlines the enormous tasks facing Western companies in the 1990s and has cogent messages for Japanese firms as well, as they move abroad.
The Machine That Changed the World is based on the largest and most thorough study ever undertaken in any industry: the Massachusetts Institute of Technology five-million-dollar, five-year, fourteen-country International Motor Vehicle Program's study of the worldwide auto industry.
Twice in this century the auto industry has changed our most fundamental ideas about how to make things. Now it is doing it again. Just as mass production swept away craft production, so a new way of making things, called lean production, is now rapidly making mass production obsolete.
Lean production is the Japanese secret weapon in the industrial wars and is spreading throughout the world. If Western companies and their managers and workers are to survive in the 1990s, they must learn and adapt to lean production. Some of the smartest already have begun to do so.

Lean production welds the activities of everyone from top management to line workers, to suppliers, into a tightly integrated whole that can respond almost instantly to marketing demands from consumers. It can also double production and quality, while keeping costs down. Its adoption, as it inevitably spreads beyond the auto industry, will change almost every industry and consequently how we work, how we live, and the fate of companies and nations as they respond to its impact.
In clear and compelling terms, this book explains what lean production is, and its global implications for all of us.

Electrician's Troubleshooting and Testing Pocket Guide 3rd edition

McGraw-Hill | ISBN-13- 0-07-148782-4 | English | PDF | 2.55 MB RAR Compressed | 241 Pages | No Password

Electrical measuring and testing instruments are used in the installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of electrical systems of all types, particularly in commercial and industrial facilities. Electricians and technicians involved with installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical equipment need a good working knowledge of portable testing instruments and how they are used to diagnose and fix problems in the field. Most operational problems of electrical equipment and systems involve one of four basic faults:

1.Short circuit
2.Ground fault
3.Open circuit
4.Change in electrical value

This guide describes troubleshooting techniques to identify such problems using portable field-testing instruments. Although it covers many types of test equipment, this book emphasizes the use of digital multimeters (DMMs), the most common and versatile electrician’s diagnostic tool. This new third edition of Electrician’s Troubleshooting and Testing Pocket Guide includes updated information Click here for terms of use. on testing and troubleshooting lighting systems, expanded information on diagnosing power quality problems, and a new chapter on thermographic diagnostic tools.

Scope of This Book
Electrician’s Troubleshooting and Testing Pocket Guide covers the use of digital multimeters (DMMs) and other testing equipment to troubleshoot electrical and electronic circuits used for power and control applications. In general, it concentrates on traditional electromechanical and inductive equipment found in commercial and industrial occupancies—motors, transformers, lighting, and power distribution equipment. In general, this guide does not cover testing and troubleshooting of the following types of equipment and systems:

Communications systems. The use of network cable analyzers, optical time domain reflectometers (OTDRs), optical power meters, and other equipment used for testing and troubleshooting communications systems such as telecommunications, computer local area networks (LANs), and outside plant fiber-optic installations are outside the scope of this publication.

Electronic components and systems. This book touches on testing of electronic components such as resistors, small capacitors, and diodes. However, the broad subject of troubleshooting electronic components and circuits using digital multimeters and other viiiportable test equipment is covered in much greater detail in a different McGraw-Hill publication:
Electronic Troubleshooting and Repair Handbook by Homer L. Davidson.
